The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting environmentally appropriate and socially beneficial management of the world's forests, ensuring the sustainable use of forest resources.
Our partnership began before the full-scale invasion, but starting in 2023, we and the client chose a new vector. We realized that it is now important to speak not only about ecology but also about the country's development. Our task was to bring the topic of green recovery into the space of clear solutions: how the state, business, and media can build a common understanding so that the forestry sector becomes more transparent and meets European requirements.
We had to explain fairly complex professional standards in a language understandable to everyone – from a wide audience to government officials. Therefore, we started by updating the strategy and conducted a reputation audit. We asked our stakeholders: how they prefer to receive information, what is truly important to them, and what results they expect from the implementation of standards. This allowed us to build communication not on guesswork, but on the real demands of the industry.
What we did:
● Developed a communication strategy;● Conducted 2 reputation audits (1 at the beginning of the cooperation and 1 upon completion of the campaign) to understand if stakeholder opinions about FSC had changed.
Ongoing communications support throughout 2023–2026:
● Brought together government representatives, environmental NGOs, forestry businesses, and industry stakeholders. One of the key topics was the role of timber in the reconstruction and development of Ukraine, where we discussed state policy and green recovery goals.● Organized interviews and expert comments for leading publications and radio.● Released dozens of announcements, releases, analytical articles, and columns. We moved away from complex terms and wrote about how responsible forest management affects the country's economy and ecology today.
We became part of the FSC Ukraine team, which established a high-level dialogue on the country's recovery issues. Together, we ensured:
